About the Role
Our client, a leading tile and stone contractor, is seeking an experienced Shop Drawings Drafter to join their Sacramento team. The ideal candidate will have high technical proficiency, knowledge of materials, and CAD/Revit skills to prevent costly rework and ensure accurate on-site assembly. This candidate will also have foundational understanding of fabrication, layout and installation details. This position reports directly to the General Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce shop drawings with Precision and Accuracy: Exact measurements, dimensions, and material specifications (type, grade, finish).
- Apply knowledge of Assembly Details: Specifics on joints, connections, and installation methods.
- Compliance: Alignment with contract documents, architectural plans, and structural engineering requirements.
- Fabricator Information: Details of the manufacturer or contractor preparing the drawings.
- Provide detailed information for submission and review processes
- Subcontractor/Contractor: Prepares and submits drawings for review before fabrication.
- Designer/Engineer: Reviews for conformity with design intent.
- Significance: Ensures that prefabricated elements (steel, MEP systems, etc.) fit and work properly before they arrive on site.
- Work closely with Project Managers and shop to ensure drawings are accurate and complete.
Qualifications
- Software Proficiency: Expertise in CAD/BIM software like AutoCAD or Revit. Also proficient in Slabsmith.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, material properties, and building codes.
- Detail Orientation: High level of accuracy to avoid field errors.
- Communication: Ability to collaborate with engineers, architects, and subcontractors.
- Minimum 5 years CAD design experience in the tile and stone industry
- Bachelor degree preferred
- Proficient with Bluebeam or other digital takeoff software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure and make sound decisions.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $120,000 – $140,000annually (based on experience)
